Thursday, June 17, 2004 through Saturday, June 26th, 2004 - GODSPELL, a musical.
Godspell came to Walla Walla in June of 2004, adding to an already impressive lineup of summer musicals. Godspell was produced and presented by the Unity Church of Peace starring local author Joe Cooke as Jesus.
Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day By Day.” Drawing from a variety of theatrical traditions, “Godspell” is a groundbreaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love.
The show opened on Thursday, June 17, 2004 for a special presentation for the Walla Walla friends organization mentors and children. It opened for the public on Friday, June 18th for a 7:30pm performance, and repeated on Saturday, June 19th at 7:30pm; Sunday matinee, June 20th at 2pm; Friday, June 25th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, June 26th at 7:30pm. All shows took place at the Unity Church of Peace, 810 C Street, Walla Walla, Washington 99362.
Godspell also featured Michael Blackwood, Gloria Yera, Lorie Buchanan, Barbara Eckhardt, and DeBorah Beatty.
